Watts McCray was well represented at the Family Law CLE Day held by the University of New South Wales in Sydney on 26 October 2017.
Our consultant, Professor Patrick Parkinson presented a paper on Arbitration in the Family Law System, emphasising the potential benefits of arbitration given the delays and frustrations in the Court system. Following Patrick, our Director Justin Dowd presented a paper dealing with Models for Effective Dispute Resolution, with particular reference to the Australia/Japan Hague Convention mediation initiative, arbitration, and collaborative law.
The sessions were well attended and there were lively discussions during and after each presentation. Details of the papers presented can be obtained from Watts McCray.
Watts McCray’s Rishika Pai, Beth Agar and Deena Palethorpe also attended the seminar.
Justin Dowd is also chairing the College of Law Advanced Family Law Day being held in Sydney on Thursday, 2 November. This also promises to be an enlightening series of presentations by very experienced practitioners.
