Justin Dowd, Vice President of LAWASIA and Director at Watts McCray Lawyers, co-presented at the International Malaysia Law Conference in Kuala Lumpur this week. The theme for the Conference is “Raising the Bar: Innovate. Integrate. Emulate.” Justin’s paper was titled “Surge of New Competition between Digital Law Firms and Traditional Law Firms: Uber-isation of the Legal Profession”. Justin discussed the trend towards a “Paperless Office”.
The keynote address at the Conference was delivered by His Royal Highness, Sultan Nazrin Nuizzuddin Shah, Sultan of Perak Darul Ridzuan. The Attorney General of Malaysia YBhg Tuan Tommy Thomas, gave the Opening Address.
Also presenting at the Conference from Australia were the former Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia, the Honourable Robert French and the President of the New South Wales Court of Appeal, the Honourable Margaret Beazley AO.
The issue of the rapid change in technology and the access to and availability of information represents a significant challenge for lawyers around the globe.
