7TH LAWASIA FAMILY LAW AND CHILDREN’S RIGHTS CONFERENCE, VIENTIANE LAOS

Hosted on the banks of the Mekong River, the conference has examined a range of cross-border issues in family law and children’s rights.

Watts McCray Lawyers are privileged to have our Jacqueline Vincent, Managing Director; Justin Dowd, Director and Nicole Stevens, Senior Associate, chair and present papers at the 7th LAWASIA Family Law and Children’s Rights Conference in Vientiane, Laos this week.

Justin, who is Vice President of LAWASIA, is chairing a presentation this evening titled “Social Media and Technology in Family Law Practice” at which Nicole is one of the presenters. This session looks at various social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin and Twitter, and their impact on family law issues.

Jacqueline Vincent yesterday chaired a session at the conference titled “Surrogacy and its Ethical Challenges” and also co-presented on the topic “Effective Negotiations and Understanding Between the Client, Lawyer and Child”. These are challenging issues facing our global community.

Justin will conclude the conference later tonight after a panel discussion that includes the Honourable John Pascoe AC CVO, Chief Justice of the Family Court of Australia, and other judges from Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore on the topic “Future World: Family Law in the Next Decade”.

Congratulations to all those involved in the 7th LAWASIA Family Law and Children’s Rights Conference.
