Chris Dunn

Chris has been practicing as a solicitor since 1982 and has gained experience in a number of different areas of law before being accredited as a Family Law specialist in 1994. He joined Watts McCray in 2014.

Chris has built a reputation as a trusted advisor to his clients. He thoroughly understands clients’ needs and seeks the best possible resolution to their problems across all facets of family law. He focusses on helping his clients achieve an outcome in order to get their lives back on track after a relationship breakdown.

Clients benefit from Chris’ extensive experience in the practice of law – particularly Family Law. Chris is able to focus on the issues and give practical advice on the options available to clients.

Whether clients wish to pursue lawyer facilitated negotiations, mediation, litigation or collaborative law, Chris tenaciously represents his client’s best interest in moving the issues to ultimate resolution.

He advises family law clients on property settlements, pre-nuptial and post-nuptial financial agreements, maintenance, child support, parenting arrangements. Chris also advises and represents the interests of companies, liquidators, administrators and personal insolvency trustees in matters where they have third party interests in matrimonial disputes.

After completing his legal training Chris worked at a small general suburban practice for 5 years before becoming a partner. There he gained invaluable experience in property transactions, commercial disputes, family and de facto disputes and criminal matters as well as putting the client needs above all else. Moving to a bigger firm enabled Chris the ability to specialise in Family Law and commercial litigation.

As well as being a highly experienced and well respected litigator, Chris also embraces alternate dispute resolution measures including mediation, arbitration and collaborative law as being part of the suite of possible strategies for obtaining the best and most cost effective outcome for his clients.

As a result of his experience and reputation, Chris is highly involved in the development of family law. He has been a member of the NSW Law Society Family Issues Committee since 2008, a member of the NSW Law Society Specialist Accreditation Advisory Committee and a past member of the steering committee of the Fundamentals of Family Law education and mentoring program.

Chris is a past President of the Parramatta & District Regional Law Society as well as a past Vice President of the Western Sydney Collaborative Family Lawyers.
