Allysha Merrett commenced her legal career in 2014 as a generalist, and worked in a number of areas before finding her passion in criminal and family law. She obtained her Masters in Family Law during 2017, is an accredited Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, a qualified Independent Children’s Lawyer and now works exclusively in family law with Watts McCray.

Allysha adopts  a strategic and common-sense approach to family law with her goal being a practical and cost-effective resolution for you and your family which enables you to move on to the next chapter of your life, whatever that might be.

Allysha’s expertise includes bankruptcy, property settlements involving companies and trusts and representing third parties in property settlements. As part of the merger with Australian Family Lawyers Allysha also utilises her expertise as a Practice Leader of AFL Asset Protect. She has extensive experience in parenting matters, conducting cases involving relocation of families, in representing grandparents and in matters involving Family and Community Services. Allysha regularly appears as an advocate in the Federal Circuit Court and Family Court in Sydney, Parramatta and Newcastle and represents clients in conciliation conferences, private mediations and arbitrations. She is currently studying her Masters of Business Administration with RMIT which gives her a commercial perspective on family law property settlements.

Allysha understands the stressful and worrying nature of family law proceedings and the toll it can take on families. Because of this Allysha has a focus on assisting you to resolve matters as quickly as possible and without protracted litigation by giving comprehensive and realistic advice.

Allysha is empathetic and professional in her practice, which ensures that you feel supported and empowered to make informed decisions throughout your separation.

In her spare time Allysha enjoys hiking, cooking and sailing. Allysha has a dream to one day own a winery and become a successful wine maker.
