As an example of Watts McCray's international expertise, listed below are examples of recent international family law matters:
- Providing advice in respect of international adoptions from China and the Cook Islands.
- Acting in several Hague Convention applications in Ireland and the United States involving the return of children to Australia when those children were wrongfully taken from Australia.
- Acting for an Australian-born client against a German spouse in respect of property proceedings where assets were held in several overseas jurisdictions i.e. Hong Kong, Switzerland, Italy, Malta and the United States. This case involved the tracing of substantial assets in different countries, the location of those assets and the formulation of arrangements to ensure those assets were part of the pool of property to be divided in Australia.
- Acting for a client in proceedings against her spouse whose income and assets were held in Hong Kong; working with Hong Kong lawyers to ensure that all income and assets were identified.
- Providing advice to clients in the United Kingdom, identifying the most beneficial country in which to conduct proceedings.
- Acting for a US client in respect of international child support and child contact issues.
- Acting for a client based in Asia with particular reference to property and superannuation interests.
