Ron Friesen

SPECIAL EXPERTISE

Ron has worked in the Family Law area since 1975. After 13 years in government employment, including that as Chamber Magistrate, Clerk of the Court, Registrar and Coroner, Ron entered private practice during 1988 in a large regional town in New South Wales specialising in Family Law and Criminal Law. In 1998 he moved to Canberra and has worked exclusively in Family Law ever since.

Ron is a Family Law specialist, collaborative lawyer and advocate, with extensive experience in all aspects of Family Law, including complex children and financial issues for married, defacto and same sex couples, child support, domestic violence and care proceedings. He has been involved in a number of international family law matters.

He has been a member of the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia since 1992 as well as being a member of the Law Society of the Australian Capital Territory and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. Ron gives freely of his time providing family law legal advice as a member of the ACT Law Society Legal Advice Bureau and as a coach and adjudicator in the Schools Mock Trial Competition.

BACKGROUND

Ron was raised and educated in Campbelltown. Upon leaving school he worked for 13 years in the Local Courts of NSW during which he studied law part time, being admitted as a solicitor in 1988. Ron commenced private practise in Bathurst and moved to Canberra in 1998.
