SPECIAL EXPERTISE
Maurice has a long and successful professional history in acting for clients in a wide range of legal practice areas.
He has over 23 years experience in assisting clients resolve their family issues, including both complex financial, and parenting matters. During his career, Maurice has advocated clients’ cases and protected their interests in the Family Court of Australia, the Federal Magistrates Court of Australia and Various local courts in NSW.
Since 1983, Maurice has also acted for clients selling and purchasing their homes, investment real estate property, and businesses – including hotels, pharmacies and service stations. He has considerable experience in mortgage finance and leasing, and has acted for banks and building societies. In addition to the above, Maurice has represented clients over many years in matters involving the police, including Apprehended Violence Order cases, and road transport and traffic matters.
Outside of the Family Law jurisdiction, Maurice has acted in a legal role in work related disputes, including representing both employees’ and employers’ interests. He has acted for a large Government Authority over a long period in proceedings in the former Compensation Court of NSW, the NSW Court of Appeal and the High Court of Australia, and represented that client in leading cases – one of which extended and defined the law in relation to employers’ responsibilities to their employees after traumatic events.

Maurice encourages clients to consider the use of alternate dispute resolution methods as a way of resolving disputes outside of Court, and uses his knowledge and experience to negotiate beneficial outcomes for clients.
BACKGROUND
Maurice grew up in Coffs Harbour, NSW and completed his secondary education at Coffs Harbour High School in 1976. Maurice then completed his Bachelor of Arts/Laws degree at Macquarie University in 1982.
Upon completion of his tertiary education, Maurice was employed by the firm, Baldock Stacy & Niven in Orange. In 1988, Maurice opened and managed the Parramatta branch of Baldock Stacy & Niven and became a partner. From 1988 to 2006 Maurice was the senior partner in the Parramatta office of Baldock Stacy & Niven and, during that period, supervised many lawyers in various areas of legal practice. In 1996, Maurice was appointed a Public Notary.
