Jeff Marhinin

SPECIAL EXPERTISE

Jeff has practised exclusively in the area of family law since becoming a member of the Watts McCray team in September 2000. After being admitted to the Supreme Court of NSW as a Legal Practitioner in 2001, Jeff has represented clients in matters covering most aspects of family law, including divorce applications, parenting disputes, property settlements, child support issues, de facto relationships, and apprehended violence order proceedings.

A large amount of Jeff's current practice involves assisting and representing clients in complex and higher wealth financial and property settlement matters, as well as more difficult parenting cases.

During his career Jeff has prepared and delivered seminar presentations to others in the family law profession and wider community and has been a guest on various radio and television programs such as Sunrise on Channel 7 discussing family law issues.

Jeff is a Partner of Watts McCray Lawyers and an Accredited Family Law Specialist. He is also a member of the Law Society of New South Wales and the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia.

Jeff's primary interest during his tertiary studies was on areas of law that have a focus on people and human relationships. This, combined with studies in science and psychology, have assisted Jeff in developing strong oral and written communication skills, a sound understanding of human reactions and emotions, refined and analytical abilities - all of which are vital in the practise of law and advocacy.

Jeff's approach to law and his attention to detail mean that he is able to carefully listen to a client's concerns, displaying patience and empathy when required, in an attempt to achieve the most optimal solutions for clients. BACKGROUND

Jeff completed his tertiary education at The University of Sydney. He was awarded a Bachelor of Science with a major in Psychology in 1999, and a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours in 2001. After graduating from University, Jeff completed a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the College of Law.

Prior to joining Watts McCray, Jeff gained experience in private legal practice through part-time employment in the areas of employment and industrial relations, anti-discrimination law, and occupational health and safety.
