Eleanor Lau

SPECIAL EXPERTISE

Whilst Eleanor has gained valuable experience practising in the field of commercial law, she made the decision to practise exclusively in the area of family law from 2004. 

As an Accredited Family Law Specialist, Eleanor's strengths extend across the many complex areas of family law including property settlement, parenting matters, de facto matters, and binding financial agreements.  She has also completed specialist training to act as an independent childrens lawyer.

The professional relationship Eleanor maintains with fellow family lawyers benefits her clients in resolving their family law issues.  The experience she has gained during her legal career working in commercial litigation, wills and probate and conveyancing enables her to offer her clients an extensive knowledge base that complements her family law expertise. 

Eleanor is very comfortable in court should a matter progress to that stage however, she is equally supportive of a mediated approach when possible.

Eleanor's passion for family law stems from her desire to make a positive difference in her clients' lives in the face of what is often an emotionally painful period for them.  Her supportive and communicative approach assists clients through the legal process.

Eleanor is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin.

BACKGROUND

Eleanor studied her Bachelor of  Commerce (Accounting), Bachelor of Law, and Master of Laws (Corporation and Commercial Law) at the University of New South Wales.

Prior to admission and whilst studying law Eleanor had the opportunity to work at an international law firm overseas which provided her with a wider scope of understanding in her pursuit of a successful career in law.

Eleanor is an active member of The Young Lawyers Family Law Committee
